Coronavirus Updates for Home Education Families
The Office of Home Education continues to enroll students and function as a compliance office; however, the building is closed to the public in accordance with CDC and District mandates.
It is highly recommended to send all correspondence via email to email@example.com to ensure quality control, expedited processing of your request, and confirmation of receipt.
Annual Evaluations – All annual evaluations due between March 1, 2020 and July 31, 2020 will be due by July 31, 2020. We encourage families to reach out to your evaluator to establish a plan to complete your evaluation by that date. If you need to find an alternative method of evaluation, please refer to the Annual Evaluation section below.
Home education, as defined by Florida law, is “sequentially progressive instruction of a student directed by his or her parent in order to satisfy the attendance requirements of Sections 1002.41, 1003.01, and 1003.21.” The law gives parents much freedom in directing and choosing the educational programs that best meet the needs of their child. Parents are responsible for all aspects of the student’s home education programs.
