Potter Elementary's Produce Market for the Community

April 18, 2020 - Partners in Education

Potter Elementary held its very first farmer's style market that included fresh produce, rice, and pasta — serving 150 of families in the community.

"We are so thankful to the Children's Board and Feeding Tampa Bay for providing Potter Elementary this fresh food for our families," said Krysti Freyaldenhoven, Potter Elementary Social Worker. "We know this is an especially challenging time for our community, and a weekly produce market is a great compliment to what the school district is already providing with our Grab-and-Go meals on Wednesday and snacks on Monday."

The Children's Board also helps to stock Potter's on-campus food pantry, called the Feeding Minds Pantry, that provides food and books to the families all year long. With 98% of their students on free or reduced lunch, the pantry is a vital service to the community.

The school plans its produce market every Friday in April.
