Tampa, Fla. – (December 6, 2019) – Hillsborough County Public Schools is seeking input for the name and mascot for our district’s new elementary school, set to open in August 2020.
The public is invited to offer recommendations for the name and mascot of the school, which will be located on Gate Dancer Road, west of U.S. Highway 301, in the Belmont subdivision. Southeast Hillsborough County is growing at a rapid rate, and with that comes the need for more schools to support the families moving into the area.
Elementary D, as it is being called for planning purposes, will provide space for new growth in the area and offer relief to Doby, Cypress Creek and Reddick Elementary Schools.
Our district is hosting a community meeting on Thursday, December 12, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Shields Middle School cafeteria (15732 Beth Shields Way, Ruskin). Families will be able to meet the new principal, who will be appointed at the December 10 school board meeting, and learn more about the new school.
