Tampa, Fla. – (March 20, 2020) – Hillsborough County Public Schools is ready to feed students during this extended time off with free breakfast and lunch offered at several sites across our district.

Governor DeSantis and the Florida Department of Education directed all schools in the state to close until April 15. Our staff knows that school closures can have a huge impact on the health and well-being of our students. In our district, 63% of our students – about 123,000 children – quality for free and reduced price meals.

Starting on Monday, March 23, our district will establish Grab-and-Go feeding sites to ensure that students have accessibility to nutritious meals. Our Student Nutrition Services Department has identified the following locations to provide meals – breakfast and lunch – at no cost to children 18 years and under.

 Food & Nutrition School Sites
Alonso High School  Jefferson High School  Reddick Elementary School
Armwood High School  King High School  Rodgers Middle School
Blake High School  Lennard High School  Sligh Middle School
Brandon High School  Leto High School  Smith Middle School
Chamberlain High School  Madison Middle School  Spoto High School

Each location will start serving food to those 18 years old and under on Monday, March 23, at 9 a.m. and remain open until 1 p.m. daily. Federal guidelines require students are present to receive food. Students are only allowed to receive food one time each day, however they can pick up both breakfast and lunch at that one time.

On Monday, March 23, at 8:45 a.m., Hillsborough Schools Superintendent Addison Davis will be available at Sligh Middle School for interviews and to assist with the food distribution. Sligh Middle School is located at 2011 E. Sligh Ave., Tampa.

While we encourage parents and caregivers to drive to our locations, we will be accepting walk-ups. The food will be distributed directly from our school buses which will be set up in the designated car line at the schools listed above.
