Tampa, Fl. (May 19, 2020) – After an extensive search for the most highly skilled educational leaders to guide the work in our district, Hillsborough County Public Schools Superintendent Addison Davis has announced his appointments for his executive team.

Superintendent Davis selected the most culturally diverse executive team in our district’s history. These individuals have a proven track record of transforming underperforming schools, creating systems of support for student engagement, and accelerating opportunities for students through career technical courses, school choice options and innovative specialized programs.

“I am excited these dedicated educators are ready to partner with our teachers, our administrative leaders and our staff to drive the work in our district. Through strategic goals and a culture of high expectations, we will collectively strengthen teaching and learning within our district. Our students and this entire community should be excited about the future. This executive team will expand opportunities in such a way as to ensure our students are connected to their own individualized pathways on their way to graduation,” said Superintendent Addison Davis.

Since he started in our district in March, Superintendent Davis has worked tirelessly to make certain the right individuals and the correct infrastructure is in place to lead teaching and learning. He has created several new positions that will work to improve outcomes for all children and youth.

The new executive team will include Chief of Elementary, Chief of Middle and Chief of High School positions. These educators have nearly six decades of experience implementing data informed initiatives and enhancing academic programs, all while closing the achievement gap.

The team will also include a Chief of Innovation who will work to create robust pathways for students, including career technical options and dynamic school choice opportunities.

The Chief of Climate and Culture will collaborate with our school-based leaders and our teachers to leverage such things as mental health supports, positive behavior supports, social emotional learning, and early childhood. Superintendent Davis wants to ensure the right conditions are set for teaching and learning.

Superintendent Davis has created a concentrated focus on our schools that has the greatest need and will be provided additional supports. The Chief of Transformation will focus on 29 schools laying out a customized system of support for students and engaging families in the educational process.

The Chief of Equity & Diversity will collaborate with our families, school district personnel, and community leaders to ensure our district meets the need of all learners, promoting inclusion, access and achievement.

The executive team appointments are effective immediately and each individual either is already in place or will now transition to our district to begin working to Accelerate Hillsborough.
